Fredric E. Russell
Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Investment Strategist

After a prestigious career in academia, our founder and chairman, Fredric E. Russell began his career in investment management as an Investment Officer in the trust department of Fourth National Bank of Tulsa in 1978, whose trust assets exceeded $400 million. While there, Fred produced an excellent record and was often quoted by notable publications including the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week and the Tulsa World.

Fred’s excellent investment record enables him to develop a loyal following among the bank’s trust department clients. Believing that his own firm could give him the freedom to create an investment culture of creativity and discipline, and to offer a high level of personal service and performance to affluent clientele, he formed the Fredric E. Russell Investment Management Co. in 1987.

Today, Fred is considered one of the media’s most sought after investment experts and continues to offer his keen insights to a number of national and local media outlets.

Fred graduated from Swarthmore College in 1965 with a B.A. in History and later learned an M.A. in history along with an MBA in finance, with a focus on investments from Washington University in St. Louis. Fred has also passed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination in 1976, and has found his accounting knowledge integral into financial statement analysis to publicly traded companies. Before beginning his investment management career, he taught accounting and finance at the university level.

Fred credits his strong analytical skills to an intense, independent study of accounting early in his career. He believes this laid the groundwork for a sophisticated understanding of financial statements, which is key to a strong performance in investment management.
